Used as a sequestrant in evaporated milk products including packaged macaroni or noodles and is also used as an emulsifier in some cheese. It prevents cooked-out juices in many meat products and is a buffer to adjust acidity in chocolate and many other foods.
Has been used to treat phosphorous deficiency. Combrestatin A-4 phosphate is a disodium phosphate salt that is used to treat tumor formation.
