Jelly powders, soft drink powders, meat mixes, dessert mixes, milk, beer, cottage cheese, canned vegetables, honey, fruit juice, wine. In the curing process for frankfurters, Genoa salami, sausage, meat processing and as a pickling agent.

Excess amounts can cause diarrhea. Could be made from genetically engineered products, primarily genetically modified maize.
