A non-essential amino acid that is used as a dietary supplement as well as in baked goods as a dough conditioner. In the body it is used in the formation and repair of skin, hair, and nails.
L-Cysteine can be extracted for use from hair and feathers. Today most of the L-cysteine used in processing is made from duck feathers.
