A thick clear liquid used as an emulsifier in many dessert and meat products as well as to prevent discoloration during storage. Also used as an antifoaming agent and as an antifreeze agent for beer and dairy during production.
Most commonly used moisture-carrying molecule (after water) in cosmetics and personal care products. Used as a solvent for many pharmaceutical formulations which have caused dermatitis when applied topically. Also used as a coolant for industrial purposes.

Possible Health Effects
In animals large doses can cause central nervous system damage and kidney changes and so is deemed not safe for use in cat food by the FDA.
